CHICAGO, Ill. -- The North Park University women's tennis team shut out the Dominican University (Ill.) Stars 9-0 at the North Park Tennis Courts on Wednesday.
Junior Linn Viuhkonen and sophomore Lisa Viuhkonen both started the dual with back-to-back 6-0, 6-0, victories. Freshman Patrycja Miazek notched a 6-1, 6-1, win over Maya Banks putting the Vikings up 3-0. The Vikings continued to dominate in singles competition as freshmen Sara Stan and Kendra Belisle both picked up victories. Freshman Emma Trais marked her first career win defeating Evelin Silva 6-1, 6-1. The Vikings were up 6-0 on the Stars at the end of singles competition.

The Vikings kept up on their winning ways going into doubles action. The team of Linn Viuhkonen and Miazek defeated the team of Juilana Neiza and Julia Hochstetter in shut out fashion 8-0. Lisa Viuhkonen and Kendra Belsile played also to a 8-0 shut out against the team of Banks and Alexis Hoskins Senior Hannah Rosenbaum and Stan concluded doubles play with a 8-1 win over Gladys Bautista and Silva.
The Vikings pitched their first shut out of the season 9-0.
