CHICAGO, Ill. -- The North Park University men's volleyball team hosted a tri-match on Thursday afternoon, dropping the first match 0-3 (14-25, 20-25, 19-25) and the second match 0-3 (14-25, 23-25, 14-25).
First Match: Aurora 3, North Park 0
The first set featured a clear decision for the visiting Aurora Spartans. Aurora posted a .370 hitting percentage while the Vikings were caught on their heels with a .042 hitting percentage.
The Spartans enjoyed a sizable 7-1 lead before a Colin Wong kill and a few errors by Aurora brought the Vikings within five at 5-10.
Unfortunately, this is the closest the Vikings would get in the first set, as Aurora ran away with a 25-14 victory.
In the second and third sets, Aurora totaled 26 kills including a perfect third set with no errors to the tune of a .500 hitting percentage.
North Park improved their consistency in every set, with .042, .115, and .222 hitting percentages, but the Spartans utilized six blocks and four aces to win in straight sets.

After, winning a three-set contest in the neutral match against Aurora, the MIT Engineers kept their momentum in the opening set of the night's final match.
The Engineers took an early 13-5 lead and would not let up, utilizing their best hitting percentage of the night at .371 to take set one 25-14.
North Park would hang with MIT in the second set, not trailing by more than three points throughout the entirety of the set.
Unfortunately, the Engineers came away with a second set victory at 25-23.
The Vikings started off hot in the final set of the night, taking advantage of a pair of attacking errors from the Engineers and building off a Frank Mauigoa to grasp a 6-4 lead.
Despite the hot start, the Engineers responded with a 9-1 run to take the final set, and match, 25-16.
