CHICAGO, Ill. -- The North Park University men's volleyball team fell to the Loras College Duhawks 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-17) inside the Helwig Recreational Center on Friday.
The Duhawks got off to a hot start in the first set by scoring 11 of the first 15 points. After the Duhawks scored two more points, the Vikings scored the next four points highlighted by an ace from freshman setter Moises Zavala making the score 13-8 Duhawks. The Duhawks scored seven of the next nine points and were up 20-10.
North Park inched closer, winning the next four points, but the Duhawks marked the final five points to win the first set 25-18
First Set: Loras 25, North Park 18 (0-1)
The Vikings gained some momentum in the second set winning 7 of the first 15 points, highlighted by an ace from freshman defensive specialist Brayden Holmes. The Duhawks took back control shortly after to tally seven of the next eight points, making the score 14-9 Loras. The Vikings would only muster seven more points in the set and fell 16-25.
Second Set: Loras 25, North Park 16 (0-2)
Loras captured the first seven of nine points and took an early 7-2 lead in the third set. The Vikings won four of the next five points, highlighted by a kill from freshman outside hitter Arthur Barczak, to push the score to 7-5 in favor of the Duhawks.
Unfortunately, Loras took control once more to defeat North Park 25-17.
Third Set: Loras 25 North Park 17 (0-3)
