CHICAGO— The North Park University women's basketball team stayed perfect with its seventh win of the season on Saturday, December 7, defeating the North Central College Cardinals, 68-58.
The Vikings and Cardinals started the first quarter evenly as both teams scored nine points. Fortunately, the Vikings outscored the Cardinals, 6-2, through the rest of the quarter and led, 17-13, going into the second quarter. Senior guard Angelina Villasin led the Vikings with five points off the bench.

First Quarter: North Park 17, North Central 13
The Vikings started the second quarter hot as they scored the first six to extend their lead to 23-13. Sophomores Lauren Lee and Jayla Johnson and Villasin all notched a basket.
After North Central made a layup, the Vikings hit six of the next seven points, making the score 29-16. With two minutes left in the half, sophomore guard Emily Czuhajewski hit a three-pointer and a jumper as time expired as the Vikings carried a 14-point lead into halftime. Johnson led the Vikings with 14 points and four rebounds. North Park took care of the basketball, turning over the ball just four times in the first half.
Halftime: North Park 38, North Central 24
At the start of the third quarter, the Cardinals scored the first eight points until Panthier tallied a layup, off an assist from sophomore guard Jacki Rapp, making the score 40-32, Vikings.
However, the Cardinals kept their foot on the gas and scored four of the next six points, cutting the Viking lead to 42-36. The Vikings finished the rest of the quarter notching seven of the last 11 points to hold a solid 49-40 lead with one more quarter to play. Johnson still led the Vikings with 14 points and nine rebounds while Villasin followed with 11 points.
Third Quarter: North Park 49, North Central 40
After three minutes of scoreless basketball, North Central sent in a layup and pair of free throws that would soon be negated by consecutive-possession three-pointers from Rapp and junior guard Zakiya Newsome, making the score 55-44.
In the last four minutes of the game, the Vikings edged the Cardinals scoring eight of the last 15 points to win 68-58.
Final: North Park 68, North Central 58
