CHICAGO, Ill. -- The North Park University women's basketball team concluded its play at the 2019 NPU Thanksgiving Tournament defeating the Comets of Olivet College, 64-47, inside the North Park Gym on Saturday.

The Vikings started the first quarter with a burst, scoring the first 13 points of the game. During that stretch, sophomore Jayla Johnson accounted for six of the Vikings' points. After the Comets knocked down a jumper and a three, sophomore Emily Czuhajewski and senior Angelina Villasin hit back-to-back threes making the score 19-5. The Comets would only muster four more points in the first quarter as the Vikings led 26-7.  Villasin led the team with 10 points and four rebounds as the Vikings shot 78% from the floor in the first quarter.

First Quarter: North Park 26, Olivet 7

The Comets came out in the second quarter marking six of the first eight points until freshman Esther Miller drained a three making the score 31-13.  On the next possession, sophomore Lauren Lee further extended the Viking lead on another three and the steadfast Viking defense only surrendered six more points as North Park led, 45-19, at the half.  Johnson led the Vikings with 12 points and Villasin followed with 10.

Halftime: North Park 45, Olivet 19

The Vikings came out flat to start the second half, only scoring seven points.  However, they kept a 52-34 lead going into the fourth quarter, despite the stall in offense.

Third Quarter: North Park 52, Olivet 34

In the fourth quarter, the Vikings tallied the first four points before being outscored, 13-8, the rest of the quarter. However, for Olivet, this was too little too late as North Park kept its perfect record with a 64-47 victory.
