KENOSHA, Wis. -- The North Park University football team fell to the Carthage College Red Men, 46-14, at Art Keller Field on Saturday.
Carthage quarterback Billy Dury threw for three touchdowns in the first quarter to give the Red Men an early 18-0 lead.
After the Red Men added another touchdown to push the score to 25-0, the Vikings marked a touchdown of their own. Junior Daekwon Derry returned the ensuing kickoff 46 yards, freshman running back A.J. Harris rushed ahead for 11 yards to the Carthage 35 yard line, and, after a penalty against the Red Men, Viking sophomore quarterback Grant Borsch found senior tight end Na'im Smith for a 20-yard touchdown. Senior Alex Santillan capped the drive with a PAT as the Vikings trailed the Red Men, 25-7.
The Red Men would add another 24-yard passing touchdown in the late minutes of the first half, bringing the score to 32-7.
Halftime: Carthage 32, North Park 7
Neither the Vikings nor the Red Men scored in the third quarter as the game remained 32-7 with 15 minutes left.
In the fourth quarter, the Red Men found the end zone two more times, extending their lead to 46-7. The Vikings, however, added another touchdown on their longest drive of the game. Starting on their own 35 yard line, Borsch found Smith once more for a nine-yard touchdown, his second receiving touchdown of the afternoon.
Unfortunately, the Red Men and the Vikings were held scoreless the last three minutes of the game as Carthage took down North Park, 46-14.
