ANGOLA, Ind. -- The North Park University men's volleyball team won two out of three matches to conclude their participation in Trine University's "Grow the Game Challenge" on Saturday.
Match 1 – North Park beats Thomas More 3-1 (25-20, 22-25, 25-10, 25-21)
- Vikings mark 11 service aces and 42 kills
- Angelo Johns led the Vikings with 15 kills and 4 service aces
- Moises Zavala tallies 33 assists
Match 2 – North Park loses to Concordia-Chicago 2-3 (16-25, 14-25, 25-21, 25-23, 12-15)
Match 3 – North Park beats host Trine 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 27-25)
The Season, So Far
After dropping their first two matches of the season, the Vikings have come back with a vengeance winning their last three of four matches.
North Park has totaled 221Â kills, 44Â service aces (1.8/set), 24Â blocks, and is carrying a 91.8 reception percentage.
Angelo Johns, returning to the team after a minor injury, has added immediate firepower to first year head coach Michael Sopocy's squad. The freshman outside hitter from Bolingbrook, Illinois is averaging a dominant 3.06Â kills per set (leads the team with 55Â total kills), while also picking up 7 service aces, and 32 digs.
California middles Jackson Goo and Nathan Nguyen have teamed up for 20Â total blocks and 56Â kills.
