#9 UW-Oshkosh Defeats North Park on Tuesday Night

OSHKOSH, Wis. --

The North Park men's basketball team continued their nonconference schedule on Tuesday night, falling to the #9 University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Titans 53-86.

Through the first three minutes of the game, the Titans led the Vikings by a small margin of 7-4. Izaiah Sanders gave the Vikings their first points of the game on a layup, and Matt Szuba knocked down both of his free throws to tie the game at 4-4.

UW-Oshkosh's Ben Boots would mark the first three of the game, and a scoring lull would ensue for nearly the next two minutes of the game.

The Vikings would stay with the Titans early in the first half, thanks to a layup and pair of free throws by Toby Marek, and a jump shot by Szuba. However, an initial close game of 10-12 in favor of the Titans would turn into a 46-17 halftime lead.

Oshkosh shot 52.8% in the first half, marking 6 three-pointers. The lone North Park three came off the hands of Korvantae Davis as the Vikings only tallied 6 made shots in the first half.

North Park showed a much better second half, shooting 41.7% from the field (15-36) while swiping 5 Titan passes.

Unfortunately, the early deficit proved too much to overcome and the Vikings fell to the nationally ranked Titans 53-86.

Quick Hits:

  • Toby Marek was the lone Viking to mark double digits, leading the offense with 10 while adding 3 steals
  • Vegard Tangen picked up 6 rebounds and a blocked shot
  • UW-Oshkosh's Jack Flynn earned a double-double, totaling 14 points and 10 rebounds
