North Park was looking for a rebound performance and they got it in the form of Peder Nalum Olsen.
Two days removed from dropping their first match of the season, the Vikes bounced back with a 4-2 win over visiting Dominican University, handing the Stars their first loss, Wednesday night in non-conference action.
Olsen had a breakout game for NP as he put away the first two goals of the game and recorded a career-high five shots, four on goal. Olsen's first tally came in the 20th minute when he headed in a Chase Lennartz free kick from 20 yards out on the right side. Â Although the Stars tied the match three minutes later it didn't deter the Vikes' grit as they immediately responded with the go-ahead goal via a Gustav Ericsson offering to Olsen in the 30th minute. Â
A rebounded shot from Matias Warp then produced the hosts' third goal in the 50th minute when Carel Kawele Kuzona took the carom and fired a shot through two defenders and the goalie. Dominican countered with a penalty kick in the 62nd minute to close within 3-2, but NP all but sealed the win in the 78th minute when Ericsson buried his first goal of the season in the bottom left corner of the net off a Nathaniel Paisley assist.
In all, North Park out-shot Dominican 17-9, including 11-5 on goal with Kuzona taking four shots and Warp three.
North Park (2-1) returns to action Saturday night when it hosts Roosevelt University for a 7:30 p.m. match.
