#8 Men's Soccer Advances to CCIW Championship

PICTURED: Carel Kawale

CHICAGO, IL - The 8th-ranked North Park University Men's Soccer team resumed CCIW Tournament action Wednesday night against familiar foe North Central College (8-9-1, 5-3-0).

The night was met with less than ideal conditions at Holmgren Athletic Complex as rain and chilly weather mellowed both of the offenses. Despite the wet conditions, North Park ripped 20 shots against North Central's defense, 5 of them on goal. North Central was stifled by North Park's defense yet again as they could only muster 9 shots, 3 on goal.

After just three combined shots in the first 15 minutes of play, North Park had a burst of offensive energy as they fired 3 shots in one and a half minutes of play. With the offense firing on all cylinders again, CCIW goals leader Carel Kawale was ready to strike. After receiving a pass from freshman Peder Nalum Olsen, Kawale sent a quick shot into the upper left section of North Central's goal, scoring the lone mark of the game.

With this win, North Park (16-1-1, 7-0-1) continues to break their own record with now 16 straight games without a defeat. On top of that, North Park's dominant defense showcased itself again in their 11th shutout of the season. North Park now approaches the CCIW Tournament Championship on Saturday where they will face third-seeded Carthage College.
