CHICAGO, IL - The North Park University Football team was shutout by 23rd-ranked Wheaton College (6-2) on Saturday afternoon.
North Park started the game off with a bang: Kicker Noah Reich surprised Wheaton's kick return team with a 15 yard onside kick. Sophomore Andrew Mihulet was able to recover Reich's kick on the 50 yard line, giving NPU some early momentum. However, the rest of the action came from Wheaton's offense, outscoring North Park 56-0. Wheaton quarterback Curtis McWilliams was able to throw for 252 yards and 3 touchdowns in the lopsided game.
NPU did have some defensive standouts in today's game: freshman linebacker Jalen Williams recorded a season (and career) high 9 tackles and senior linebacker Chaun Maiava continued his standout season with 7 tackles (4 solo), bringing his season total to 85.
North Park (1-6, 0-5) is looking to bounce back during Week 9 when they travel to Rock Island, IL and square off against Augustana College.
