Cold shooting leads to loss for NP

If there's one game North Park would like to forget about and move on quickly from it was Saturday night's matchup with visiting Millikin University.

The Vikings struggled to get their offense going from the onset and as a result suffered only their third setback at home – a 61-55 loss – in CCIW action.

North Park never led in the contest as MU built as much as a 13-point margin early in the second half, but the hosts managed to whittle deficit to four at 59-55 after a lay-up from Juwan Henry and a T.J. Cobbs steal followed by a Jordan Robinson lay-up in the waning seconds of the contest, but the Big Blue fended off the Viking rally with two free throws with 10 seconds left to earn their second conference victory of the season.

Robinson poured in a game-high 25 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for his second-straight double-double and his 11th overall. Henry added 14 points and Colin Lake finished with nine.

In a first half that saw the Vikings shoot a cold 25.9 percent NP fell behind 32-22 at halftime. Millikin powered the ball inside for 28 total points in the paint and their bench out-scored the hosts 22-0. Three different players finished in double-figure scoring for Millikin led by 22 points from TJ Sims.

North Park (14-8, 6-5) looks to rebound Wednesday night when it hosts Elmhurst College for a 7 p.m. contest.
