Three games, three goals.
For Pedram Tahmi-Masoleh, coming through in crunch time almost comes as a second nature. He proved that in the season opener at Benedictine Sept. 1 and Sunday at St. Mary's University in Minnesota, he continued to solidify that tactic.
Tahmi-Masoleh put away the game-winner in the 67th minute off an unassisted free kick from the left side as North Park earned a 2-1 win, its third-straight triumph to start the season.
On a partly cloudy, slightly windy day in Winona, the Vikings played the conditions to their advantage as they out-shot SMU 13-4 in the first half. NP took the initial lead in the 34th minute when freshman Emil Eriksson tallied his first collegiate goal, a shot from the left side off a Jason Gonzalez feed.
St. Mary's fought its way back to tie the score however when Joe Bosco came up with the equalizer four minutes into the second half on a one-time pass from Victor Mendoza off the left, but NP kept its composure despite the Cardinals owning the shot advantage 11-5 in the second half.
Keeper Christopher Tomuta played all 90 minutes and earned his third win of the season as he made seven saves. Tahmi-Masoleh led the Vikings with seven total shots, two on goal, while Eriksson recorded three and Michal Walaszek two.
North Park (3-0) returns to action Wednesday night when it travels to Hyde Park for a 7 p.m. contest with the University of Chicago.
