North Park's five-game CCIW conference winning streak came to an end Wednesday night with an 89-49 loss to host Elmhurst College.
The Vikings struggled on offense unfortunately, connecting for only 31 percent of their shots while the Bluejays shot nearly 50 percent for the contest. EC also grabbed 52 rebounds, including 17 on the offensive glass which led 21 second chance points. The hosts also pounded the ball inside, scoring 40 points in the paint and garnered 38 points from its non-starters.
Both sophomore Juwan Henry and freshman Colin Lake finished with 13 points each to lead North Park, while T.J. Cobbs and Jordan Robinson each had six.
North Park kept things close knit through the first five minutes of the contest as there were four ties. The Vikings took a 13-11 lead on a lay-up from Cobbs with 14:53 left, but the visitors never saw the lead thereafter. Elmhurst exploded for a 24-5 scoring run over the next eight minutes and commanded a 46-23 lead at halftime.
The Vikings return to action Saturday night when they host Illinois Wesleyan University for a 7 p.m. contest.
