North Park earned a spot in the Purple and Gold Tournament Championship game Wednesday night with a 96-83 victory over Baldwin Wallace Tuesday in Defiance, Ohio.
Three Vikings led NP with a combined 82 of its 96 points, including 32 points and 11 rebounds from Jordan Robinson and 29 points and 10 assists from junior Juwan Henry.
In the first half, Baldwin Wallace jumped out to a 5-2 lead at 18:17. After four lead changes and a tie, the Yellow Jackets gained their largest advantage at 17-10 at 12:14 when BW converted a three-pointer.
North Park then outscored BW by 21 points during the next nine minutes to build a 40-26 lead at 3:17 when Robinson scored on a layup, was fouled and completed the three-point play when he made his foul shot. Undaunted, BW scored 12 of the final 15 points, all on three-point plays, including three conventional, and trailed 43-38 with 1:18 left. The score remained that way at halftime.
In the second half, BW again cut the North Park lead to five points at 45-40 at 19:08, but the Vikings went on a 22-10 run to build its first of two 17-point leads at 67-50 with 11:11 left.
Sophomore Colin Lake added a season-high 21 points on 8 of 13 shooting, while T.J. Cobbs notched a near double-double of nine points and eight rebounds.
The Vikings (7-3) face the winner of the Albion/Defiance College matchup in tomorrow night's title game at 7 p.m.
