CHICAGO, Ill. -- The North Park University women's soccer team fell to the Benedictine University Eagles, 3-0, in its home opener at the Holmgren Athletic Complex on Wednesday.
The Vikings and Eagles were scoreless until the 25th minute when Benedictine senior forward Abbie Graham scored cracked the tie to put the Eagles up, 1-0. Senior forward Sam Moreno led the Vikings with three shots and freshman Moa Thomsson came off the bench with two shots of her own, but the Vikings still trailed going into halftime.
Halftime: Benedictine 1, North Park 0
The Eagles tallied another pair of goals in the second half. In the 55th minute, freshman midfielder Jennifer Garcia scored her first goal and extended the Eagle lead to 2-0, and Benedictine added a late goal off a free kick in the 84th minute off the foot of junior forward Stephanie Nichols.
Unfortunately, the Vikings could not capitalize on 17 shots and fell 3-0.
