CHICAGO, Ill. -- The North Park University women's soccer team fell to the Spartans of Aurora University, 2-4, at the Holmgren Athletic Complex on Saturday.
The Vikings and Spartans played to a scoreless tie until Aurora's junior defender Maddison Moore scored a goal in the 22nd minute to put the Spartans up 1-0. Aurora tacked on another goal off the foot of senior forward Cotina Leyva in the 28th minute, extending their lead to 2-0.
The Vikings connected on eight shots but, unfortunately, could not put one in the back of the net as the Spartans led 2-0 after one half of play.
Halftime: Aurora 2, North Park 0
The Vikings found their footing in the second half. In the 59th minute, junior midfielder Lorena Soria notched her first goal of the season on a follow-up shot, tucking the ball into the top-right corner of the net.

Next, in the 64th minute off an assist by sophomore Clara Wernbo, freshman Moa Thomsson connected on her first goal as the Vikings tied the match, 2-2.

However, ten minutes later, Aurora was awarded a penalty shot. Freshman midfielder Abby Kay took advantage of the opportunity, sending in a penalty goal to give the Spartans a 3-2 lead.
The Spartans went on to mark one more goal while holding the Vikings scoreless, as North Park fell, 2-4.
