CHICAGO, Ill. -- The North Park University women's soccer team opened its 2019 season with a 4-0 road loss to the Illinois Institute of Technology Scarlet Hawks at Stuart Field on Friday night.
The Scarlet Hawks opened the scoring in the sixth minute on a goal by sophomore Jamie Griggs as the Vikings trailed early. Shortly after, in the 11th minute and off an assist by junior forward Anna Delseith, Griggs scored her second goal of the game to exted the Scarlet Hawk lead to two.
Later in the first half, IIT added to its lead on a goal by Delseith.
Freshman midfielder Saige Thor led the Vikings with two shots in the first half, as North Park trailed by three goals.
Halftime: IIT 3, North Park 0
Unfortunately, the Scarlet Hawks held the Vikings scoreless while marking another goal in the 78th minute to win the game, 4-0.
Final: IIT 4 North Park 0
