Vikes upend Roosevelt 2-1 in 2OT

PICTURED: Shatil Khoury

North Park pulled out a thrilling 2-1 double overtime victory over visiting Roosevelt University Saturday night in non-conference action.

Although the Vikes dominated in overall shots 26-7, Roosevelt gave them all they could handle. However in the end NP's pressure proved to be the deciding factor.

Shatil Khoury tallied the game-winner in the 113th minute when he received a Carel Kawele Kuzona assist from a Gustav Ericsson corner kick and put the shot in the top right corner of the net for his first collegiate goal.

NP took the initial lead when freshman Erik Lundeen put away his second goal of the season – a rebounded shot off a Henrik Roesholt assist in the 7th minute – and things stayed that way until late in the second half when Roosevelt garnered a penalty kick goal in the 79th minute to knot the score at 1-1.

Kuzona led the Vikes with five shots while Matias Warp and Khoury fired four and both Lundeen and Roesholt three each. Of Roosevelt's seven total shots, Jose Garcia had three, all on goal.

North Park (3-1) looks to continue its momentum out on the road when it travels to St. Mary's University of Minnesota in Winona, Minnesota Sunday, Sept. 17 at 1 p.m.
