Heading into the 2017 season, fifth-year head football coach Mike Conway completed his coaching staff by adding a number of coaches for the 2017 Vikings' campaign.
This spring the Vikings were excited that Mike Gravier transitioned into a full time role on the staff. He will mentor the offensive line and also act as Coach Conway's Associate Head Coach. "I have known Mike for a long time and he has been a tremendous influence on young people through the years both on the field and off. He will bring a presence and stability to our program." Over the last 25 years Mike Gravier has been a head coach and/or an offensive coordinator at just about every level of college football and will provide great leadership and experience to this year's team.
Jesse Walton has also joined the Viking staff and will coach the receivers as well as support the strength and conditioning program. "Jesse is a great addition to our staff. He has coached on both sides of the ball in high school as well as in college. He is a high-energy experienced coach and we are excited for him to be part of our program."
Well-respected and longtime Chicago high school coach, Dan O'Keefe is another addition to the staff as a part-time assistant. Dan is a Viking football alum and a 2011 NPU Hall of Fame inductee after serving as a four-year letter winner and team captain. "Dan has been such a great coach and mentor of young men over the years. It is a real honor that he has agreed to join our staff."
Bob Harmon will stay on and work as a part-time recruiting consultant. "It would be hard to find a more creative and effective recruiter on this level, and we are glad that Coach Harmon has agreed to stay on in this capacity."
These coaching additions along with our returning committed staff of Gary Butler, Ryan Gehlert, Nathan Bell and Chris Yocum give us reason for optimism in 2017.
