While the North Park women's rowing team continues to become one of nation's elite rowing programs, their practice facility and contest area is among one of best architectural facilities in the nation.

The WMS Boathouse was recently selected by the American Institute of Architects as one of 18 recipients of the 2016 Honor Awards.

Noted as 'the profession's highest recognition of works that exemplify excellence in architecture', WMS was recognized as one of only three structures in the United States amongst the 18 selected for the award.

Completed in 2013, WMS Boathouse at Clark Park, located at 3400 N. Rockwell Ave is roughly 22,620 square feet of a rowing facility that houses rowing tank space, an ergometer work out space that accommodates 36 'ergs' (rowing machines), a community room, main office and restrooms equipped with shower facilities. Total construction costs of the new boat house were just a little under $9 million, with NPU donating $1 million to the cost.

Winners of the 2016 awards will be recognized this May at the AIA's national convention in Philadelphia.
