The North Park track and field team did a little last-minute fine tuning for the postseason in the Beloit College Relays in Beloit, Wisconsin Friday and Saturday at Strong Stadium.
Junior Dave Anderson finished second in both the discus (44.20m) and hammer throw (45.91), while teammate Matt McNamara joined him with a fifth place finish in discus.
Adam Axelsson (11.30) and Terrance Wright (11.38) each had top-ten finishes in the 100-meter dash, taking sixth and eighth, respectfully. Sophomore Kevin Vaseghi took third in the high jump with a leap of 1.98 meters, and freshman Nicholas Collar grabbed fifth in the pole vault.
Other top-ten finishes for the men's team included two in the javelin. Junior Drew Gapsch placed third (44.37m) and Chandler Avila (40.63m) followed him up with a ninth place finish.
On the women's side, Natalie Swanson nabbed second in the discus competition with a final measurement of 36.10 meters. She also took fourth in the shot put competition.
Alexa Baker landed two solid top-five finishes in the 100 meters (12.73, 3rd) and the 200 meters (25.98, 4th) while Zoe Larson represented well with a sixth place run in the 800 meters.
Senior Olivia Dwight and Sarah Tenglin rounded out the top-five finishes for the Lady Vikings with a third place and a fifth place, respectively in the javelin.
North Park returns to action this weekend when it competes in the CCIW Outdoor Championships, hosted by North Central College.
