Box Score
You couldn't have asked for a better all-around game from freshman guard Juwan Henry, but his career performance wasn't enough to push North Park past visiting Wisconsin Lutheran College Tuesday night.
Henry poured in a game-high 31 points and tied a single-game record with eight steals, but the Vikings fell 89-83 in the non-conference matchup.
North Park overcame a 52-42 deficit early in the second half and turned it into a 57-56 lead after Nate Rummel's lay-up off a Henry assist capped a 15-4 scoring run with 14:09 left in the contest. North Park forced 13 second-half turnovers and scored 22 points off the mistakes to get back in the game, but Wisconsin Lutheran ultimately came up with timely baskets to pull out the victory. With the Vikings clinging to a 77-76 lead with just under three minutes left, WLC scored 10 straight points to put the game out of reach. A three-pointer from Henry with 15 seconds remaining drew the Vikings within five, but they couldn't close any further.
North Park's 15 steals was the most by a Vikings' squad since the 2010-11 season, and Henry's eight takeaways tied Danny James' record set against Bethel College in 1989-90 season. Along with Henry, senior Aaron Weaver finished with 25 points on 9 of 16 shooting, while both Ryan Hyrn and Reggie McGee had nine points each. Kyle Stelse led Wisconsin Lutheran with 23 points as four different Warriors finished in double-figure scoring.
The Vikings (0-2) look to rebound a week from tonight, Nov. 26 when they travel to Eureka College for a 7:30 p.m. contest with the Red Devils.
