2013-14 Women's Basketball Schedule
Although the 2013-14 edition of the North Park women's basketball team won't boast the experience the previous year's team had, sixth-year head coach Amanda Reese Crockett is eager to see what the new class is made of.
"We are excited about our freshmen and transfers so far," Reese Crockett said. "It is early, but we expect them to contribute this season."
North Park returns one senior, Dominikque Williams, to a squad that finished with a 14-11 record, the best mark under Reese Crockett, but a host of second-year players should provide the added maturity the new players will need to become accustomed to the level of play.
"With the addition of seven freshmen and two transfers, we're going to look to our returning players for leadership as we continue to improve as a team," Reese Crockett said. "Although we have much youth, the expectations remain the same: finish in the top four of the conference and make it to post season play."
Along with Williams, sophomores Nicole Kruckman and Soly Roman, who will captain the inside post play, as well as juniors Kayla McCall, Annie Shain and Kayla Scoggins, North Park is sure to have an all-around game that will keep opponents guessing.
"I believe we have the talent, effort and commitment to build on last season and get the job done," Reese Crockett said. "We need to continue to grow and improve as a team. Our senior class last year put us in position to finish in the top-four, and our returning players understand what it takes to get there."
North Park opens the season hosting its first-ever tournament under Reese Crockett. The Vikings will take on Westminster College in the first round of the round robin tourney and finish with Knox College in the second round.
"With the speed, inside play and perimeter shooting that we have on this year's team, we should have a strong chance to compete for the postseason," Reese Crockett said. "We have a strong non-conference schedule that will prepare us for the always rigorous CCIW schedule."
