Complete 2011-12 CCIW Academic All-Conference Volleyball Team
A total of nine student-athletes from the North Park volleyball team were named to the All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Academic team for the fall of the 2011-12 school year at North Park University.
In addition, sophomore
Shelby Switzer was named the recipient of the CCIW's prestigious Jack Swartz Academic award for the second straight season, the first-ever NP volleyball player to earn the honor.
“I couldn't be more proud of our ladies and this team,” said fourth-year head coach
Tim Walenga. “We work hard in classroom and on the court and this is a great accomplishment.”
To be eligible for Academic All-Conference, student-athletes must carry an overall grade point average of 3.30 or above and have lettered in their respective sport for the past season, while the Jack Swartz award, which is named in honor of the late former Wheaton College tennis coach, athletics director and CCIW commissioner who enjoyed a distinguished career in intercollegiate athletics, both as a student-athlete and coach, as well as an administrator, a student-athlete must carry a 3.5 GPA or above.
“Shelby is one of the hardest working players I've ever had the pleasure of coaching,” Walenga said. “She excels in everything she does for our program and in her academics.”
Switzer led the team in kills with 446, and was third in service aces (24), digs (343) and fourth in blocks.
