North Park baseball senior Ryan Javech was named to the Captial One College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District First Team for the 2011-12 school year.

Javech, a 3.90 Business and Economics major from Winfield, IL, is the third baseman for the Vikings and currently leads the team in four different categories, including runs scored (40), walks (26), sacrifice flies (4) and total plate appearances (176).

As a member of the first team, Javech becomes a nominee on the Academic All-American ballot, which will be announced on May 30. In order to qualify for the CoSIDA Academic All-District team, a student-athlete must carry a 3.30 grade point average or higher and be in sophomore athletic and academic standing. Javech is only one of two student-athletes who qualified for the All-District team from the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin this season. It is the second selection of his career, and he is the second student-athlete under seventh-year coach Luke Johnson to qualify for this award.
