The North Park softball team lost a doubleheader to host Illinois Wesleyan University by scores of 2-1 and 3-1 in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin action Sunday afternoon.

NP took a hard-luck loss in the first game after it came back to tie the score at 1-1 in the fifth on a solo home run to left field from senior Katie Anderson. Illinois Wesleyan scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh on a one-out bunt single that scored the runner from third after she tripled. Junior starting pitcher Casey Latal took the loss, her seventh of the season as she gave up only one earned run, and struck out three batters while walking none.

In Game 2, IWU took a 1-0 lead in the fourth, but North Park came back with one to tie in the bottom half of the frame via a Melissa Abraham RBI groundout that scored senior Jessica Refojo who singled to start the inning. But the Titans were able to push single tallies across in the fifth and the seventh, taking advantage of three NP errors to earn the victory.

Freshman Danielle Warner took the loss in the pitcher's circle as she worked a complete-game, striking out one batter and walking two.

North Park (20-16, 3-9) returns to action Tuesday when it hosts North Central College for Senior Day at 3 p.m.
