The North Park track and field team finished solid at the 2012 Warrior Invitational hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran College Saturday.
North Park placed in the top three in five events, including one event championship, as the women's team took fifth overall (59.50 points) and men's team eighth with 29.50 points.
“Impressive,” North Park head coach
Geoff Masanet said. “We did a great job all around. The best way to describe it is impressive. It was just really great to see our athletes perform this strong.”
Junior
Brittany McCline took home another championship in the javelin with a toss of 33.78 meters. She was joined by teammate
Olivia Dwight, who finished third in the event with a toss of 27.68 meters. Dwight also had a top-three finish in the hammer throw (37.38 meters), while
Shanikca Watson finished third in the long jump (5.17 meters) and the women's 4x100-meter relay team took third (51.07 seconds).
“You can just see it in our athletes' attitudes and work ethics that they continue to get better,” Masanet said. “It's just a testament to how hard they continue to work.”
On the men's side,
Alrick Olsen finished second in the javelin with a throw of 45.04 meters.
“Arlick did a nice job,” Masanet said. “He was seeded slightly higher than his finish, but still turned in a great performance.”
North Park returns to action this Friday when it competes at the Concordia University Chicago Invite at 12 p.m.
