Peterson records third double-double of season

Box Score

The North Park women's basketball team fell 72-58 to host Illinois Wesleyan University in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin action Saturday evening.

Despite the loss, junior Sarah Peterson recorded her third double-double of the season and second in the last four games as she tallied 11 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Senior Antionette Collman added 12 points as the only other Viking in double-figure scoring.

North Park's bench produced some strong performances once again as the Vikings out-scored Illinois Wesleyan 24-20, including a 15-7 edge in the second half. Both junior Shaina Yalda and sophomore Dominikque Williams had six points each off the bench. The Vikings also shot 83 percent from the free throw line in the first half.

NP fell behind 48-23 at halftime, but was able to trim the deficit to 48-30 after a quick 7-0 scoring run capped off by a jumper from Collman started the second half. The Vikings then cut the lead to as little as 10 after Collman connected for another jumper at the 6:34 mark, but Illinois Wesleyan's offense proved to be too much as it ended the game on an 11-7 scoring run. Olivia Lett led IWU with 27 points.

North Park (8-13, 2-8) returns to action Wednesday night when it hosts Augustana College for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
