Men's Basketball loses to North Central 75-49

The North Park men's basketball team closed out the 2011-12 home season with a 75-49 loss to North Central College in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin action Tuesday night.

Despite the loss, the Vikings received some strong performances from their two seniors as both Roshawn Russell and Emanuel Crosby finished in double-figure scoring with 14 and 10 points, respectively.

Prior to the contest, the North Park basketball family recognized the outstanding achievements both Russell and Crosby gave to the program over their four-year careers. Both will graduate as four-year letter winners.

Sophomore Mike Gabriel was the only other Viking in double-figure scoring as he finished with 12 points. He also grabbed 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the season.

A total of 13 Vikings saw playing time. Sophomore Josh McNaughton highlighted the bench attack with a pair of assists.

NP kept things close throughout most of the first half, but North Central broke away in last 10 minutes of the half, building its lead to as much as 18 points. The Cardinals held a 38-22 lead at halftime. Aaron Tiknis led NCC with 15 points as four different players finished in double-figure scoring.

North Park (6-18, 2-11) closes out the 2011-12 season Saturday at Wheaton College. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
