2012 Football Schedule
The North Park football team released its 2012 schedule Wednesday afternoon, and the Vikings are looking to improve on last year's record.
North Park will open the season on the road in Holland, Michigan to face Hope College, a squad that finished 7-3 and took second place in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association last season. The Vikings will then return home to take on Benedictine University, an NCAA playoff contender and winners of the Northern Athletics Conference a year ago, before finishing the non-conference slate with MIAA opponent Olivet College in Olivet, MI.
NP finished the 2011 campaign with its best record in the last six years, opening the year with a 3-0 record, including victories over Benedictine University and Aurora University, not to mention a 13-10 win over nationally-ranked Washington University-St. Louis in the third week of the season.
Seventh-year head coach Scott Pethtel also recruited the largest squad in the history of the program last season, where the Vikings led the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin in fourth-down conversions and were second in team rushing yards.
