The North Park women's basketball team fell 48-36 to visiting Wheaton College in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin action Saturday afternoon.

North Park staked a 6-0 lead to start the game after three-pointers from juniors Dana Christensen and Sarah Peterson, and later extended their lead to 11-4 on a jumper from Peterson. But Wheaton used a 7-0 scoring run over the next eight minutes to pull even at 11, and later took an 18-13 advantage into halftime.

NP closed within three to start the second half on a jumper from Christensen, but again Wheaton responded with a 9-0 scoring run to push its lead back up to 10 at 27-17 on a three-pointer from Brooke Olson. The Thunder then led by as much as 14 over the final 13 minutes of the contest as they held the Vikings to only 35 percent shooting in the half.

Both Christensen and senior Roxxanne Jones finished with 11 points each to lead the Vikings, while Peterson added seven and four steals. Olson led Wheaton with 13 points.

North Park (7-10, 1-5) returns to action Wednesday night when it travels Naperville for a 7:30 p.m. contest with North Central College.
