The North Park volleyball team finished the 2011 regular season with a strong performance at the Baker Chevrolet Volleyball Classic at Illinois Wesleyan University where the Vikings earned a 3-1 record Friday and Saturday.
After losing the first match to host Illinois Wesleyan, North Park rebounded for solid wins over Indiana University-Northwest 3-0, Monmouth College 3-1 and Anderson College 3-2.
Sophomore
Shelby Switzer was strong as she earned All-Tournament team honors, averaging just under five kills per set (4.80), and 72 kills total. Sophomore
Krista Volden added 22 kills for a 1.46 average and freshman
Aurora Johansen dished out 83 assists, with an 8.3 assists per set average along with six serving aces. Sophomore
Julia Bakken also came up with 59 digs for a 3.93 average.
In NP's 3-2 win over Anderson to close out the tournament, Switzer led the net attack with a tournament-high 26 kills, while junior
Jessica Holmes dished out 43 assists.
North Park (15-17) now turns to the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin postseason tournament where the Vikings take on Carthage College in a play-in game Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
