Women's Soccer Upends Carthage 1-0

Vikings earn OT win over Lady Reds

The North Park women's soccer team earned a crucial 1-0, double-overtime win over Carthage College in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin action Wednesday night in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

North Park freshman Emma Lundeen came up with the game-winner in the 108th minute on a corner kick unassisted. It was her third goal of the season, and her second game-winning goal. She recorded three shots, two on goal in the victory.

In all, North Park out-shot Carthage 18-16, including 7-2 in the first half. Freshman keeper Katie Ibarra earned the victory, her sixth win of the season, and picked up her fifth shutout.

North Park (7-8-1, 3-3), which still has an opportunity to qualify for the CCIW postseason tournament, closes out the 2011 regular season by hosting North Central College Saturday at 5 p.m.
