CHICAGO, IL (October 29, 2011) – The North Park cross country teams hosted the 2011 CCIW championships Saturday at Montrose Harbor. Thirteen Viking runners competed on the beautiful lakefront course with the women's and men's teams each recording eighth place finishes in the overall team standings. Junior Laura Sorg (Goshen, IN / Goshen HS) once again was the top finisher with her 27:43 effort over the challenging 6k course. Mira Kettunen (Tampere, Finland), Erin Hegarty (Elgin / Larkin HS), Heather Paton (Lubbock, TX / Lubbock Monterey HS), and Jackie Abraham (Buffalo Grove / St. Scholastica Academy) were the other scoring individuals for the team.

First year runner Jamie Kriticos (Lincolnwood / Niles West HS) completed the 8k course in 30:32 in leading the Viking men. Kaleb Nyquist (McMinnville, OR / McMinnville HS) and Nick Jefferson (Eden Prairie, MN / Eden Prairie HS) solidified the middle of the line-up while Ike Birdsall (Apple Valley, MN / Huntington North HS) and Justin Klinefelter (Traverse City, MI / Traverse City Sr. HS) completed the team scoring.

The teams now turn their focus to the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional on November 12 hosted by Augustana College at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, IL.
