CHICAGO, IL (April 10, 2010) – The North Park men's golf team finished in a tie for 10th with a 646 team score in its season opener at the Millikin Big Blue Classic in Decatur this weekend.

North Park shot a 314 on Friday and came back to shoot a 332 Saturday. The Vikings tied with Millikin and Aurora University. Indian Hills Community College won the event with a 594 team score.

Leading the way for NP was senior Blake Blumenstock, who improved his Friday score of 78 by three strokes to finish with a 153 total, finishing in 19th place individually. Sophomore Dave Niemiec shot a 75 Friday and took 46th with a 162 two-day score, while senior Rob Anderson had a solid day one of 77, and finished 52nd with a 164. Sophomore Andy Hayes (171, 72nd overall) and freshman Robin Hakansson (172, 75th) rounded out the scoring for North Park.

The Vikings return to action Tuesday, April 13 when they compete in the St. Francis Invite at Wedgewood Golf Course in Joliet for a 1 p.m. tee time.
