Women's Soccer Team Loses to Aurora

CHICAGO, IL (October 20, 2011) – The North Park women's soccer team fell 2-1 to visiting Aurora University in non-conference action Thursday night.

Despite the loss and being out-shot 27-7, North Park took the initial lead and held it for much of the first half. Freshman Viviana Preciado scored from nearly 50 yards out unassisted when she lofted a shot off her left foot and put the ball in the bottom left corner of the net at the 28-minute mark. The Vikings' defense was solid then until an unfortunate mistake in the 40th minute when Aurora's Anya Vincenti scored on a goal that was nearly a copy of North Park's goal 12 minutes earlier.

Both teams played even for the first 13 minutes of the second half defensively until Aurora's Nicole Wolfe took a pass from Christine Kwilosz and put a shot in the right side of the net in the 58th minute for the game-winner.

North Park sophomore goalkeeper Casey Faure made her third start this season and recorded a season-high 12 saves, playing all 90 minutes.

The Vikings (6-8-1) return to action Wednesday, October 26 when they travel to Kenosha, Wisconsin to take on College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opponent Carthage College, as part of a doubleheader with the men's soccer team at 5 p.m.
