CHICAGO (October 10, 2011) – The North Park women's rowing team closed out its 2011 fall season in style by capturing medals in three of the four races it competed in at the Quad Cities Classic Saturday, and finished strong at the Head of the Rock Regatta hosted by Augustana College Sunday.

This past weekend's doubleheader to close out the campaign was also the final competition weekend for four-year rower Valentina Rodriguez, who will graduate from North Park in December.

“I couldn't have been more proud of our performances,” said North Park head coach Allison Koubsky. “Our ladies just continue to get better and their fitness is excellent. This past weekend's performance definitely bodes well for our traditional spring season next year.”

North Park will begin training for their traditional season in late January after the Holiday break, but they gave opposing teams something to think about by earning medals in the Novice 4+ and Novice 8+ events. On Sunday, the novice teams then finished in the top three in all their events, only finishing behind NCAA Division I programs Iowa University and the University of Wisconsin.

“Wow! What more can be said?,” Koubsky said. “This just goes to show how strong we can be when we really put a strong effort into it and we did this weekend and this season. It was just an overall solid performance for all our novice teams.”
