Men's Soccer Defeats Millikin 2-0

Viking keeper Ahlberg earns sixth shutout of the season

CHICAGO, IL (October 22, 2011) – For the ninth consecutive time in coach John Born's 13 years as the North Park men's soccer coach, the Vikings have accomplished a 10-win season.

North Park improved its record to 10-0-3 overall and 4-0-1 with a 2-0 win over host Millikin University Saturday afternoon in Decatur.

The Vikings out-shot Millikin 25-5, including 8-3 on goal in the victory. Freshman Jonas Pettersson scored what turned out to be the game-winner in the 46th minute when he took a pass from freshman Markus Fodstad and tallied his 13th goal of the season. Freshman Fredrik Greiff then finished off the scoring for North Park in the 74th minute unassisted for his second goal of the season, and his second goal in the last two games.

Junior goalkeeper Tim Ahlberg earned the victory, his ninth of the season and sixth shutout, playing all 90 minutes and making three saves.

North Park returns to action Wednesday, Oct. 26 when it travels to Kenosha, Wisconsin for a 7:30 p.m. contest with CCIW opponent Carthage College.
